Springfields South, Reach South Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an Exceptional 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to start as soon as possible.

Post:                           1:1 Learning Support Assistant

Location:                    Springfields South, Westwood Road, Salisbury, SP2 9HS

Salary:                        Grade F, £20,903 rising to a maximum of £22,183, pro-rata per annum

Hours/Contract:       Term-time only, Part-time, Permanent, Named-Pupil Contract: 31.25 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Start Date:                 As Soon As Possible


The Role:  We are looking for a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work with two of our High Needs Pupils working alongside the teacher to deliver a personalised autism friendly academic and social skills curriculum, as well as to support the families to implement functional skills within the home and community.

The Person: The position of 1:1 Learning Support Assistant is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and compassionate individual to lead lessons, interventions and support our learners with autism. Key skills:

  • To have a good knowledge and understanding of autism and social communication needs and appropriate strategies to support pupils with this need. E.g. TEACCH

  • To have knowledge and understanding of social, emotional & mental health needs and cognitive needs, that affect children and young people’s development.

  • Excellent listening skills

  • An ability to build strong, trusting relationships

  • To be resilient and  able to take regular responsibility for agreed learning /activities

  • Promote and support the inclusion of all pupils in the learning and social skills activities

  • To use positive and personalised anxiety management strategies


School Background: The Springfields Academy is a Reach South Academy for young people aged 5-19 with autism. We have 150 pupils attending our Calne site and 40 pupils at our Satellite provision in Salisbury.  Our goal is to build safe independent lives for autistic young people through support, understanding and enablement.

Trust Background:  Reach South is a young and developing Trust which operates across the South West of England with the aim of delivering all through 3-19 education.  We operate 14 academies in Plymouth, Bournemouth, Dorset and Wiltshire.
