Salary Range:            Grade F + 10% Unsocial Hours Allowance

Actual Salary:             £21,024.57 rising to a maximum of £22,312.01 per annum + £2102 rising to a maximum of £2231 per annum       


Hours/Contract:         Term-time only, Permanent Contract: 42 Hours per Week, 39 Weeks per Year

The Role: We are seeking to appoint an excellent Residential Child Care Officer (RCCO).


The Springfields Academy currently provides a residential provision for 12 boys aged 10 to 16 with special education needs and Disabilities (SEND), Autism (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH).


Main responsibilities include:

  • To provide children a stable, well-balanced value base, recognising the importance of equal opportunities, anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive practices in line with fundamental British Values and Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development.

  • To promote an atmosphere in which children can, within the routines and structure of the care provision, be supported, stimulated and provided opportunities, to achieve their full potential.

  • To lead by example and act as a positive role-model to children with regards to dress, attendance, punctuality and socially acceptable behaviour

  • To recognise and reward achievement whilst ensuring that children gain an understanding of discipline and consequences for actions.

  • To ensure that children are provided a social environment, in which children are supported and encouraged to develop their own identity, special interests and opportunities to experience everything life has to offer.

  • To record and report In line with Academy policies and procedures whilst adhering to GDPR and child protection legislation.

School Background: The Springfields Academy is an academy over two sites in Calne and Salisbury. This includes a residential provision at our Calne academy.  We aspire to build safe independent lives for autistic young people through support, understanding and enablement. Additionally, we are a ‘National Autistic Society Accredited Provision’ with over 90% of the current cohort having a diagnosis of Autism.  All students have the potential to access a primary/secondary curriculum.

We are an acknowledged centre of excellence for Autism; we are highly reflective in our practices, and are continually working to improve our provision and practices. We provide a personalised curriculum journey that enables leaners with a diagnosis of autism to develop skills in areas of need and to overcome their barriers to learning. The drive to build ‘safe Independent lives’ shapes this curriculum and everything else that we do.
