Springfields Academy Students Celebrate Results Day

Students and staff at The Springfields Academy are celebrating today, Thursday 20th August, as young people receive their GCSE results alongside a range of other qualifications recognising their individual achievements and progress.

For the seventh consecutive year, all pupils have secured a Post-16 placement, resulting in 0% NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) and ensuring that every pupil has a positive destination beyond school.

At The Springfields Academy, a specialist school supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), students follow personalised pathways designed around their individual strengths, needs and aspirations.

Part of Reach South Academy Trust, Springfields is celebrating a landmark year after being recognised by Ofsted as one of the country’s leading specialist schools. Last month, the school also achieved Beacon Status from the National Autistic Society (NAS), a rare recognition held by just eight providers across the country.

While some students have achieved GCSE qualifications in subjects including English, Maths and Science, others are celebrating success in Functional Skills, Entry Level certificates and vocational qualifications.

One particularly significant achievement is that of Harry, who has secured 20 qualifications, including six GCSEs at grades up to Grade 7.

His achievement is especially significant given the challenges he faced earlier in his education. Harry’s parents said: “After being excluded from primary school and having six months out of school, seeing what he has achieved in his secondary education at Springfields is amazing.”

Alongside their qualifications, students have developed their independence and confidence through a range of experiences, including taking part in Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programmes and opportunities to build practical life skills.

These achievements represent important milestones as students prepare for their next steps. Leavers from The Springfields Academy will move on to a range of destinations, including local colleges, specialist training, apprenticeships and employment opportunities.
