Drake Pupils Take Part in Mental Health Workshops

Every child to benefit from annual workshops with Livewell Southwest’s Mental Health Support Team

Pupils at Drake Primary Academy, are taking part in a series of mental health workshops, giving them the chance to explore emotional health and wellbeing.

Children in years 1 to 5 have all taken part in a workshop so far this term, with sessions delivered by Livewell Southwest’s Mental Health Support Team.

Drake is committed to ensuring every child takes part in at least one mental health workshop each year.

The workshops form part of the school’s wider approach to supporting pupils’ emotional health and wellbeing, giving children opportunities to explore mental health in an age-appropriate setting.

Livewell Southwest works with schools across Plymouth to support children’s mental health, offering early help through workshops, group activities and individual support where needed.

Jessica Plummer, Head of School at Drake Primary Academy, said:

“We want our children to feel comfortable talking about their feelings and to understand that looking after their mental health is just as important as looking after their physical health.

“Working with Livewell Southwest gives our pupils the chance to explore these ideas in a way that’s right for their age. By making sure every child takes part in a workshop each year, we can keep these conversations going as they grow and help them understand where to turn if they need support.”
