Celebrating Culture and Community at Stoke Damerel Primary Academy

At Reach South Academy Trust, we are proud to celebrate the incredible work happening across our schools — and Stoke Damerel Primary Academy recently gave us a shining example of what it means to build a truly inclusive and connected school community.
The academy hosted a vibrant Cultural Celebration Day, bringing together students, staff, and families for a joyful exploration of global cultures. The event was filled with colour, creativity, and connection, as attendees experienced a rich tapestry of art, dance, and food from around the world.
This special day was led by the passionate and dedicated Megan Shaw, whose leadership has been instrumental in embedding the values of Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DIB) throughout the school. The celebration was not just a one-off event, but the culmination of ongoing work to ensure every child feels seen, valued, and empowered.
Throughout the day, students engaged in hands-on creative activities, shared traditional dishes from their own cultures, and learned about the customs and traditions of others. It was a powerful reminder of the strength that comes from embracing our differences and celebrating what unites us.
Megan’s commitment has left a lasting impact - not only through the success of the event itself, but in the conversations and connections it sparked across the school community. Her work continues to inspire a culture of openness, respect, and belonging.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Megan Shaw for creating such a meaningful and memorable experience for everyone involved. At Reach South, we are proud to support schools like Stoke Damerel Primary Academy in fostering inclusive environments where every child can thrive.
