Pilgrim Rocks! Year 4 Pupils Shine in School Rock Band Project

Pilgrim Primary Academy in Plymouth has been buzzing with musical energy this year as Year 4 pupils took centre stage in an exciting rock band project led by the incredibly talented Mr Shelton from Sound Factory Schools.
Throughout the school year, children have been learning to sing and play electronic instruments in dedicated rock band groups. Each term has culminated in vibrant performances for parents and the wider school community, showcasing the pupils’ growing confidence and musical skills.
The project has been made even more special thanks to the generous support of The Barbican Theatre, which provided free use of their space—giving children a professional environment to explore and develop their talents.
Headteacher Rachael Saim praised the initiative, saying:
"It’s been truly inspiring to see our pupils thrive through music. The rock band project has brought joy, creativity, and teamwork into our classrooms. We’re incredibly grateful to Mr Shelton and The Barbican Theatre for making this possible. Pilgrim really does rock!"
With plans already underway to expand the project next year, the future looks bright - and loud - for music at Pilgrim Primary Academy.
