Plymouth Professionals Support Drake Primary’s Careers Afternoon
Community Spirit Shines as Plymouth Visitors Share Careers with Drake Pupils
Pupils at Drake Primary Academy, have taken part in an exciting careers afternoon this month designed to help them learn more about the world of work and the wide range of opportunities available to them.
A range of visitors came along to the school including members of the Livewell Mental Health Team, a mental health nurse, and a hairdresser, who all shared insights into their careers and the skills needed for their roles. The children were fully engaged throughout the afternoon, asking thoughtful questions and sharing what jobs their own parents do.
Building on the success of the event, the school is planning another one in the spring term, which will include even more guests from a variety of vocational backgrounds to inspire their young learners further. If you would like to get involved or share your career experience with Drake pupils, please contact the school office:

“We want our pupils to start thinking about their futures and to see that there are so many exciting and meaningful paths open to them. Events like this help children understand that every career starts with curiosity and learning. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and the thoughtful questions they asked our visitors.”
